My Christmas Wish List!

I know this is quite late considering Christmas is in two short days, but for those last minute shoppers out there maybe my Christmas wishlist will inspire some gift ideas for your loved ones. At the beginning of the month when everyone was asking me what I wanted I really had no idea. I didn't want anything, but the longer I thought about it and the more people asked me I came up with some stuff that's been sitting on my "To Buy" list for months haha.

1. A bluetooth keyboard for the Nexus 10
2.Taylor Swifts Wonderstruck Enchanted Perfume
3. Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume
4. Michael Kors Black Handbag
5. Demi Lovato Nail Art Kit
6. Conair Facial Steamer

My Wishlist is probably for the more girly person in your life, but I think every fashion enthused and beauty expert out there would love to get their hands on some of these products. They're very simple but thoughtful gifts that show the person you really know a lot about their personality and interests. Even for those secret santa players and dazed and confused boyfriends/fathers out there who have no idea what to get that girl as a gift, consider looking for some of these items or even similar products.

Hope I helped out on that last minute shopping a little!

Happy Holidays to all my followers & thank you for supporting what I've been doing! xoxo

My First Rockefeller Center Trip! & OOTD

I went on my first trip to Rockefeller Center last night to see the Christmas Tree and I was so amazed! I never expected it to be so beautiful and big! I loved every second of it (besides the tight body squeezing to get through). Everyone should go to New York at least once in their lifetime to see the tree. I know a lot of people say it's just a tree, but we really have to take the time to enjoy simple things in life like that. This trip definitely relieved a lot of the built up stress I had from finals and the crazy Holiday hours I've been working. I saved a couple of pictures for you guys (:

FIRST! OOTD (:
Boots - Wal-Mart $17
Leggings - Wal-Mart $4
Tank Top - Envy U $13
Cardigan - Platos Closet $5
Belt - Wal-Mart $??
Leather Jacket - Wal-Mart $2
Scarf - Cotton On $5

Total Cost of Outfit - $46

New York City Trip!

I recently spent some time in NYC with my boyfriend and his uncle taking a few photos for his photography class. I visited a new place this time called the Highline which is an old train track turned into a garden walk way. The only thing though is all the plants were dead because its winter time! :( But I definitely plan to revisit in the summer when the plants are alive and healthy.

We also happened to walk through Time Square on a very important day. World AIDS Day! There were tons of fund raisers going on and many characters like the one below walking around showing support.

Holiday Nails & November Favorites!

Browsing through pintrest I found this awesome design on candy cane nails. It's only been about a day that I've had them painted like this and I've already received numerous compliments!

Tips On Healthy Hair Care

Recently a lot of people have been asking me how I keep my hair so soft and healthy. I honestly didn't think I was doing anything special, but I figured I'd share my hair care routine for those who have been asking (:

FIRST!
DO NOT wash your hair every day! I know a lot of girls say their hair gets too greasy and they need to wash it every single day, but honestly skipping a day wont kill you. If it gets as greasy as you say it does just wear it up in a cut topknot or pony tail! That's always a great way to hide unwashed hair. I can go about three days without washing. Your hair will grow a lot faster and healthier since you're not using harsh chemicals that strip your hair of its natural oils every day

SECOND!
Use a sulfate free shampoo! Don't use a shampoo that's literally drying your hair out. I use Not Your Mothers Way to Grow. It's sulfate free and a great moisturizer for my natural curls.

THIRD!
Always apply a leave in conditioner or serum. I use an olive oil spray paired with a leave in keratin serum. I only apply these when I get out of the shower and my hair is freshly washed. On days that I skip a wash I just apply a pea size amount of Moroccan oil to tame frizz and remoisturize.

FOURTH!
Don't use heat every day! I know a lot of us including myself love our straighteners and curling irons, but sometimes we just have to put them down and embrace our natural looks. Find a system that works good for your natural hair and stick with it for a week to give your hair a break from all that heat. If you must use heat always make sure you apply a heat protectant, preferably one without alcohol.

FIFTH!
Deep condition at least every two weeks. Your hair needs a pick me up every once in a while. Pick a day when you're not overly busy and spend time pampering yourself with a bubble bath and a hair mask. When you rinse it out you'll feel refreshed and your hair will be happy you gave it the extra moisture.

Deep Conditioning Hair Mask

I recently bought this jar of conditioning cream for about $5 because a couple of my customers mentioned that it was a great product. I tested it out last night and got great results. I added a little something extra to the mix to give my hair a real pick me up.

You'll Need:
A bowl and spoon
Moroccan Oil
1 spoonful of Cholesterol conditioning cream

Take a spoonful of the conditioning cream and about 6-8 pumps of my moroccan oil. You want to mix quite a lot because you'll be drenching your hair in the mixture for maximum moisture. After mixing the two together apply to hair focusing most of the product on your ends.
After I applied the entire mixture to my hair I tied it up and sat around for about a half hour to let it really soak into my hair. After I rinsed it out I found that my hair was really shiny and the next day smelled and felt amazing! I'll definitely be giving my hair this treat about every two weeks to wake it up from heat styling and weather.

October Favorites!

This month is all about Not Your Mothers line! In stead of going into each individual product like I usually do I'm just going to talk about the line since they are all from the same brand. The shampoo and conditioner are really great and I especially love that it's sulfate free! I've tried garlic shampoo in helping my hair from falling out but it dried out my hair so much so I tried this stuff and it's very moisturizing and smells way better. I also love that its safe to use daily unlike most shampoos that help to grow hair which are only safe to use twice a week. The Kinky Moves curling cream is really great when I want to wear my hair natural. It defines my curls and smells like grapes. The only down side is that it's very sticky so you want to make sure you use very little otherwise it'll leave a crunch to your curls. The Beach Babe texturizing cream is perfect when I set my hair night to wake up with waves. It gives my hair the perfect amount of texture to hold the waves all day whether they're braided waves or twisted waves.

There are more products to this line I haven't gotten around to trying yet. This line also has a heat protectant, hair spray, dry shampoo, smoothing cream, shine spray, beach spray, and texturizing powder. I definitely recommend you run out to the nearest store and pick up these products. They're super cheap but so amazing!

Nutragena Wave
I bought this product because I felt like I wasn't really getting my skin clean at night after wearing makeup all day long. It's actually really great and leaves me skin very soft and fresh feeling after use. I even got my boyfriend into using this. Theres different pads that you can buy depending on what kind of clean you want. So far I've only used the regular pads that the device came with, but I'm heading out to Walmart tomorrow to pick up some more. I'd definitely give this a try if you feel like you're regular soap just isn't cutting it

More Halloween Fun! & OOTD

Yet again I set out in search of more Halloween baking that I could do this month and I came across these cute owl cupcakes that I ended up making for one of my classes during a presentation. Everyone thought they were so cute and I really enjoyed making them.

They're perfect for any Halloween parties you might have coming up and also easy if you have kids and want to find a fun activity to do together.

On a different note, I went to a Haunted Hayride with my boyfriend in Hackettstown NJ. It was so fun! The hayride itself was really great and I definitely got scared a couple times. My throat is sore today from screaming so much when the guys would jump up onto the tractor and touch us! After the hayride we went to the haunted house which turned out to be more funny than scarey because the group of girls that were in our group knew a lot of the people who were dressed up to scare us. I laughed so hard I got really bad cramps haha! But towards the end of the haunted house they came out with chain saws and chased us and of course Daniel had a tight grip of my hand and ran faster than I did so I fell, scrapped my knee, and now today I have this huge bruise -_-
The outfit I wore for the hayride definitely wasn't very practical. The hey poked through my leggings and hurt my butt all night, but sometimes cuteness triumphs over practicalness haha.

Shirt & Cardigan = Envy U $12 & $13
Waist Belt = Charlotte Russe $3
Leggings = Sears $10
Boots = Wal-Mart $17
Necklace = Etsy.com $32 (birthday gift from Dan 4 years ago)
Wallet = Unique Thrift Store $2

Overall cost of the outfit = $89

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?!

Every girl has the makeup bag they leave at home and the makeup bag they carry on a daily basis. I thought I'd share with you what I keep in my travel bag! Might be a good idea for you to pick up some of these products to keep in yours too (:

I always buy two of everything when it comes to makeup brushes, eyeliner, and mascara. I put one in my keep at home bag and one in my travel bag for touch ups or if I'm running late I'll just apply at school or work.
I keep these samples of perfume in there just in case I feel like I smell just a tad or if I'm in the mood for a little extra something while I'm out!
I keep drugstore makeup in my travel bag because I don't use it as often and what I keep at home. This is just in case I was running late and need to put it on while I'm out or in the car.
Lets keep it real ladies. We all need our feminine product and our birth control. I keep a whole load of these things just in case I'm out with a friend and she needs one!
I keep make up remover towelettes in case I have a bad day and cry off all my makeup or even if I just feel irritated with it on. I also keep oil absorbing wipes because I tend to have really oily skin midday. The tide to go is self explanatory haha. I'm a messy girl

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes

I get so excited when Halloween comes! It's my favorite holiday and definitely my favorite season. I already have so many things lined up to do with my boyfriend including Fright Fest at Six Flags! I can't wait, but I'm definitely going to be devastated when October is over and all the Halloween decorations get packed up again ):

Feeling inspired by all change of seasons and the upcoming holiday, I went on pinterest for some fun ideas to try out this year and I found so many different food ideas it was really hard to choose from. Of course I'll be trying almost all of them by the time this month is over, so expect lots of food posts! I came across this recipe for Pumpkin Cupcakes. I love pumpkin anything so I was down.

They came out absolutely delicious and really moist compared to some other flavors I've tried in the past that are just dry and unappealing.

If you want to try this recipe out click here

For the icing I simple used Betty Crocker cream cheese icing and a tube of Betty Crocker black decorating icing to may the spider.

If you have any other recipes I can try out this fall please let me know!

Saying Goodbye to Summer Nails

Summer is pretty much over and its time to pack up all the bright nail polish and bring out the darker more winter like colors. I figured I'd just do one more bright and fun nail art design before the summer is officially over! This is what I came up with (:

The colors I used are:
California Coral by Essie
Platnium Silver by Sally Hansen
Black on Black by Sinful Colors
Wonderous Star by OPI

No Heat Hairstyle!

I've been obsessed with not using heat on my hair lately. Especially since schools started back up I don't really have time to spend in the morning on curling and straightening. I hit up pintrest for some neat ideas and came across this one girl who twists her hair and sleeps with it over night and woke up with the cutest curls ever! I tried it out and I absolutely love the way it comes out. Its so quick and easy compared to waking up hours before hand to blow dry and  whatever else.

1. First I split my hair in half, twisted the sides and blow dried them for about 3 minutes each then pulled them up and pinned them to the top of my head
Front view of how it should look after pinning them to the top of your head
Side view

2. After leaving them in for about 2 and a half hours (I was doing this on a day that I started later in the day rather than leaving it in overnight) I took out the twists and shook them until I got my desired style. To get my bangs out of my face I just created a small bump and pinned them back.

I think the style is just so easy and so cute! If you try this out definitely sent me some photos so I can see how great your hair looks without using heat!

September Favorites

Pumpkin Caramel Latte Candle
I absolutely love when Bath and Body Works brings out their autumn candles! They're my favorite and this year they have a bunch of new scents. I remember one called Pumpkin Patch and another was called Leaves I believe. This one was my absolute favorite and I never really buy the candles unless they're on sale but this just smelled so delicious I couldn't resist. I'm very big on  burning a candle every day, it relieves a lot of anxieties that I feel and this candle is perfect for the job!

bhcosmetics 120 Color Palette

I went to my friends house about a month ago and I saw she had this 180 tropical color palette and I started playing with it. I really liked the quality of the makeup so I figured I'd go onto their website and check out what other kinds of stuff they had. OMG they must have 20-30 different palettes from nude to tropical to matte. The 120 color palette I have is the second edition and I believe there's about 3 or 4 editions of this palette. The best part about this, it only cost $20 for all of these colors and the quality is really great!

Beyond Belief Refresh and Refine Pore Purifying Mask
So I've been really obsessed with face masks lately and I found this one at Sally's Beauty Supply so I figured I'd give it a try. It works wonders for sure. After I use this my skin feels very fresh and clean and I also feel like my pores are a little tighter. I love coming home from a long day at school or work and putting on this face mask to help me unwind. The green tea and fruit botanicals are really great for you skin and definitely feel you feeling completely refreshed after a long day of stress.

Perfumania Travel Size Bottle
I have a friend who works at Perfumania and she suggested that I buy this little travel size case for like $10 and what they do is fill it with whatever perfume you want and when you run out you just keep coming back and refilling it. The best part if you always get to pick a different perfume so you never have to pay $50-$150 on one single perfume that you might get tired of down the road. The refill costs only $10 each time and the bottle holds about 60 sprays of perfume so it should last a while. It's definitely my favorite thing to keep in my bag now!

Back To School Haul! Platos Closet & Journeys Kids

I've been doing a lot of back to school shopping. I'm so excited not only for a new semester but for the winter! Winter is my all time favorite season because I get to bring out the cozy sweaters, chunky scarves, stylish boots, and hot chocolate! I honestly wish winter was all year round!

I found these two Victoria Secret Pink sweat shirts that I thought would be perfect for those rainy days when I really don't feel like getting all dressed up to go to school at 8:00 in the morning! They're super soft and so comfy! What I also love about these, they were each $10! That's seriously a steal compared to the price you'd have to pay at an actual Victoria Secret store

You can never go wrong with a cozy cardigan! I bought three! All classic colors, grey, white, and black. I especially love the white one because it's all lace with a light pink trim around it. The black cardigan was from New York and Company. The funny thing about that one is that I actually bought my friend the same sweater for her birthday in January! I thought it was hilarious that I found it at Platos Closet, but then again it made me wonder if she dropped it off there!
These long sleeve shirts are so perfect for me. I absolutely LOVE the middle sweater and the one with the big red flower. They're oversized which makes them my perfect winter time piece.
I picked up two pieces of jewelry that I really liked. The one on the left is a simple long chain with a couple pearls and gold beads. The one on the right caught my eye mainly because I dont know what it is! It gets a lot of compliments though and its definitely a statement piece
Last but not least my boots! The pair closest to the camera are from Journeys Kids. I don't think I ever had such a comfortable boot! I wear these for my eight hour shifts at work and I honestly don't feel a thing when I come home compared to some of the other shoes I wear to work. I also really like them because a guy I know who works at the store hooked me up with his discount! The pair farther back are from Platos and I think theyre just so adorable! Studded bootie cowboy boots are a must for the fall (:

I absolutely love everything that I bought for this back to school season and the best part is all together this entire haul only cost me around $100! Let me know what you think of some of my new pieces!

Bad Day? Seven Things I Do To Unwind

I've been having a string of bad days one after the other and it kind of inspired me to share some of the things I do to get over a bad day and move on. I know with school starting again we're all bound to get stressed out to the max the next couple of months. Next time you're feeling a little down or stressed out try some of the things I do to get yourself out of that bummed out mood!

1. Take A Shower
Scrub all of that bad juju off in a nice warm shower! I swear it works. Sometimes I come home from work totally wigged out and a hop in the shower with the sweet scent of my shampoo and body wash totally calms me down. And I definitely feel soooo much better with all of the days worries swirling down the shower drain.

2. Take A Bath
If I've had a really terrible day I great myself to a bath with some of Lush's great homemade all natural bath bombs. Soaking in the warm bathwater in complete silence is a great way to release some of that stress wind down, especially before bed time.

3. Light Some Candles
Every once in a while I turn all the lights off in the room and just use candle light. The candle light calms me down and all the scents mixing together are perfect for calming down some of my nerves. To make it even better grab a good book to occupy your mind!

4. Play A Game
Sometimes just pulling out my tablet and playing uno or candy crush takes my mind off of negative things. When your mind I'd focused on something else like winning or trying to figure out a puzzle there's no time to dwell over anything else.

5. Talk It Out
Dan and my mom always get caught up in my day days haha. Just talking things out with them and venting about my work or school problems really helps. Especially when I get their insight in what I should do to make the situation better. Its always good to have an outside opinion on something you're stuck on.

6. Get A Pedicure
I find pedicures to be so relaxing. Having someone else worry about the hangnail on your toe is a great way to destress. Its great when you get to leave with cute looking toes too!

7. Watch A Movie
Just like playing a game when you occupy your mind with something else, like fictional characters and their lives, you're too busy to think about your own. Just don't go for a movie that has a similar plot story to what you're going through. That totally ruins the point!

August Favorites!

This month favorites is a mix between electronics, food, and beauty products haha. I've been way busy this month getting ready for school that I discovered quite a few non beauty products that make me very happy (:

TRESemme Keratin Smooth Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum
This stuff is so great! I usually use it when I have a free day to do nothing and have no reason to blast my hair with heat or other styling products. Its a great way to relax my hair keep it smooth when its natural. I also love that I only have to use one pump for all of my hair! Products that require 3-5 pumps are just not worth it. You run out way too fast and spend more money than you really need to. One pump of this stuff is great and spreads very easily getting full coverage!

HASK Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment
This little vial contains the most precious oil in the entire world! Argan oil is so great for your hair and I'm often recommending this product to a lot of my customers. Its great in wet or dry hair, but I usually apply it to dry hair after I've styled it. I love when I wand my hair and use it afterwards to tame some of the frizz. It makes the curls seem a lot more defined and I absolutely love that. The best thing about this product is you literally use a drop a day. I know this little vial seems like nothing, but It's lasted me a month already and I'm no where near empty! Keep in mind I use it every day and the vial itself cost $1!

Nutella 2 Go
I love Nutella! This little snack gets me through a lot of days. Just about every time I go to Wal-Mart I pick up a package for myself. It's a really great dessert and not that bad for you either!

Ecotools Makeup Brushes
I have finally found the perfect makeup brushes! I kept buying really cheap really crappy brushes that made my face itch and didn't spread the product every well either. This was just about the only cheap brand I haven't tried yet so I figured I'd give it a shot and OMG! The bristles are so soft and apply the product so smoothly! I also love that its made out of recycled and organic elements! I definitely recommend picking up a pack of these brushes!

Nexus 10 Tablet
I recently bought this tablet for school so I don't have to carry around my huge heavy laptop on campus. I really love this tablet! It's by google so it has google play and thousands of ways you can customize it unlike apple products which is a really big selling point for me. The screen is great and super clear. I seriously haven't been able to put it down for days haha

Brightening Sheet Mask Review

I first saw the sheet mask on Shay Mitchell in an instragram post she put up a couple weeks ago. I absolutely love her skin so I went in search of whatever it was that she was using and with all my research I found that its along the lines of an Asian sheet mask or paper mask. They're pretty much pieces of thin paper soaked in serum to help brighten your skin tone, refine pores, and moisturize. I found a couple places where you can order them online, but I really didn't want to wait for shipping and all that other crap. I saw online that Target had something pretty similar to what I was looking for so I took a drive over and picked up a pack.

They come in a box of 3 for about $9 which I thought was pretty affordable to the ones I found online. I tried to get a pretty good picture of both sides of the package so you can see the ingredients and read a little about the product.

PROS
  • Left my skin feeling extremely soft for hours afterwards
  • Great relaxing tool
  • Simple and easy to use
  • Excess serum to use on other areas
  • Has eye flaps so you can close your eyes and let the serum help puffiness and redness in the eyes
CONS
  • Little movements of the face cause the mask to slip off
  • Bigger than my actual face
There aren't too many cons to this product but I have only used it once. I'm gonna keep up with it once a week and see if it actually makes any difference in the look of my skin. Of course whats a good review post on a face mask without posting a picture of myself with the mask on?!

What's In My Makeup Bag?!

My makeup collection has been growing every day and I probably should slow down soon because its going to make me completely broke! Anyway, just thought I'd give you a sneak peek into my makeup bag to see what kinds of brands I use on a daily basis. Eventually I hope to do a quick tutorial on how I actually do my full face makeup routine, I'm just waiting for a better camera to film on rather than my webcam or HTC. So make sure you stay tuned for the upcoming video!

This is where I store all of my makeup. It's pretty messy and completely unorganized, but theres a method to my madness and it's okay! Mojo wanted in on the post too! (He actually broke the zipper on the bag while I was taking the photo -_-)
When it comes to primers I desperately need them! My skin is so dry if I just apply my foundations on my skin directly it looks cracked and totally disgusting. Pallado is definitely my favorite brand. I use the eyeshadow and foundation primer from this brand and they're really great! The price isn't all the bad either so it makes me twice as happy (:
Clinique liquid foundations are probably the ONLY foundations that don't make me break out. Especially the anti blemish liquid foundations. I've used other brands that say they have acne medication in them and they just suck and make me break out way more than I usually would. The WetnWild liquid foundation I have was just a cheap one I bought when I ran out of the Clinique stuff. It's so expensive and I don't always have time to run to Macys to pick up a new bottle when I run out so I keep this cheap version for those days. As for loose powder to set my liquid makeup I use Physicians Formula loose powder in Translucent. Definitely one of the best powders I've used.
All of my eyeshadow! My favorite part of makeup (: Most of my eyeshadow comes from NYX which is my favorite brand for eyeshadow. They go on really soft and creamy compared to other shadows I've used. The containers that say "tester" came from work. We were getting rid of a brand we carried, so I cleaned off the testers and took the ones I liked home haha. The pencils are from LA Colors. I don't use them often, but I like how long the color lasts when I do decide to wear them.
Lastly all of my eyeliners! I'm more into liquid liners than pencils, but every once in a while I like to pull out the pencil and just keep it simple when I'm feeling a bit lazy. Liquid liner in my opinion just pulls a look together completely and makes it look a lot more classy.
